My Mandrake 10 box is locking up on me sad.gif. Problem seems intermittant and the /var/log/syslog for the previous two lockups (it's happened more than twice) shows:

FIRST TIME
Sep 13 10:00:00 spike CROND[12944]: (jmorris) CMD (/home/jmorris/docs/scripts/backup.script^I/home/jmorris/docs/scripts/backup.script)
Sep 13 10:00:01 spike kernel: SMB connection re-established (-5)
Sep 13 10:01:00 spike CROND[12962]: (root) CMD (nice -n 19 run-parts /etc/cron.hourly)
Sep 13 10:40:00 spike CROND[13269]: (jmorris) CMD (/home/jmorris/docs/scripts/backup.script^I/home/jmorris/docs/scripts/backup.script)
Sep 13 10:40:02 spike kernel: SMB connection re-established (-5)
Sep 13 10:44:50 spike syslogd 1.4.1: restart.

SECOND TIME
Sep 16 04:40:00 spike CROND[21407]: (jmorris) CMD (/home/jmorris/docs/scripts/backup.script^I/home/jmorris/docs/scripts/backup.script)
Sep 16 04:40:01 spike kernel: SMB connection re-established (-5)
Sep 16 04:40:12 spike CROND[21406]: (jmorris) MAIL (mailed 1559 bytes of output but got status 0xffffffff )
Sep 16 05:00:00 spike CROND[21493]: (root) CMD (/home/jmorris/public_html/mt/mt-rebuild.pl^I-mode="all" -blog_id=0)
Sep 16 05:01:00 spike CROND[21499]: (root) CMD (nice -n 19 run-parts /etc/cron.hourly)
Sep 16 05:03:30 spike CROND[21492]: (root) MAIL (mailed 6436 bytes of output but got status 0xffffffff )
Sep 16 07:37:56 spike syslogd 1.4.1: restart.

That backup.script rsyncs over samba to a windows machine and copies the My Documents folder over. I'm using

[root@spike log]# uname -a
Linux spike 2.6.3-16mdk #1 Fri Aug 13 16:33:14 MDT 2004 i686 unknown unknown GNU/Linux

prebuilt kernel and sources (and this did happen with the older kernel 2.6.3-15). Is it time for me to rebuild the kernel?
