I went and bought a geforce2 card particularly for my linux box(because my radeon 7000 eats it) and all I can get into with any success is text mode. I am currently ]Trying[ to get the Nvidia drivers installed and am having a hard go of it.

I think the main problem is that I don't know how to install the kernel-source-2.6.3-7mdk.i586.rpm file so that the Nvidia installer will pick up my source and compile the driver.

Can someone help?

Kain

P.S. Go into as much detail as you can, please.

So..i guess the main problem with you is you are not able to install kernel sources.
If you have SRPM or the rpm package you said then it should be easy to install the sources.
just issue command:
#rpm -i xxx.rpm

this should work.Or else you can use the Mandrake installer CD and select Kernel development. Then kernel sources will be installed.

And you can follow this nice guide written by Hughesjr about how to configure 3d cards in Linux.
