I'm running a highly modified installation of RH8, kernel 2.4.20, on a k6-2 500. Trying to build SDL 1.2.5, so i picked up esound from tux.org/~ricdude/EsounD.html. i can post more specifics, but this is what happens when i try to make that:
gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I. -I/usr/local/include -g -O2 -c -fPIC -DPIC esddsp.c -o esddsp.lo
esddsp.c: In function `open':
esddsp.c:172: `RTLD_NEXT' undeclared (first use in this function)
esddsp.c:172: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
esddsp.c:172: for each function it appears in.)
esddsp.c: In function `ioctl':
esddsp.c:373: `RTLD_NEXT' undeclared (first use in this function)
esddsp.c: In function `close':
esddsp.c:392: `RTLD_NEXT' undeclared (first use in this function)
make: *** [esddsp.lo] Error 1

any help would be greatly appreciated

When you run the config script, does it warn of any miss library?

If not, try this
Open up esddsp.c and esddsp.h with an editor , look for all the include files, make sure they are in the /usr/local/include directory.

Make sure audiofile http://oss.sgi.com/projects/audiofile/ is installed on the system. Its the only required dependency to get esound working. 0.2.3 should work for you.

Google is your friend. I copied & pasted: [esddsp.lo] Error 1 and foudn this

http://archive.linuxfromscratch.org/mail-a...01/06/0799.html, I pasted the last lint

I've compile Enlightenment from scratch many times. You shoudl just need audiofile and all should be okay.
