No matter what version of Linux I run (Red hat 9, College linux and a few others so far) they all freeze on the following line
"amp: BIOS version 1.2 Flags 0x03 (Driver version 1.16)"

my 2 questions are what does this mean and how do i fix it

I am new to linux but not to computers.. i am pretty sure that operating systems are supposed to boot... also this is a slightly older computer but it ran both win98 and win2k propertly

Thanks

Try booting the Redhat install CD again and when you see the prompt type in
linux noapm
and press the enter key.
