hi

i am a newbie in linux

i need to make an internet cafe server with RH9, the services i need is a dhcp server, Internet sharing to windows clients, a cache proxy, an ftp server and optionally if possible and not a lot i need to make these a dummy work stations which should boot from the server, whereby the workstations dont have hard drives, they should boot from the NIC interface

Is there a reason you want to use Red Hat 9? Red Hat 9 has reached end of life, so they are no longer putting out updates, bug fixed, secuity patches, that sort of thing. Might I suggest looking into a Red Hat clone like White Box or CentOS to use for you server?

Either of those would work well for DHCP, FTP, samba, and cache servers.

As for making the dummy terminals, do you want the dummy terminals to be running linux or windows or does it not really matter as long as they have a web browser?

Somebody with more knowledge is going to have to help you with the specifics, but I just through I would bring up some of the standard questions first.
