Hi. I am running a virtual PC on my linux (VMWare), which generally doesn't cause too many problems. However, after a power-outage last night, the virtual machine has failed to recognize the parallel port (error message: "Parallel portdevparport0 is used by another program such as another instance of vmware workstation or driver such as lp. Device parallel0 will start disconnected"). The usual fix of editing the settings for vmware does not fix the problem.

I have to have access to this port to run certain programs. I know that in the past our tech department person has fixed this problem by removing the lp kernel. Being the weekend, I can't ask for her assistance. Can anyone tell me the command lines to remove this kernel?

Thank you SO MUCH for any help you can give me.
