A friend of mine is running a website that consists of the usual php pages, images and some database stuff. He is about to move away and leave his server at home. During this time, no one with any knowledge will have physical access to the server for a long period of time. I wanted to setup a backup site for him, so in case something happens that we cannot fix remotely, we can just switch the DNS over and everything will still run as if it was running off his machine.

Because the content can change from day to day, I wanted to use rsync so my server is constantly in sync with his on a daily basis. Is there a guide that will explain this in greater detail? How will i get the database from his computer to mine?

A mini guide would be nice smile.gif
