Alright there. Having trouble getting my Aureal vortex 8820 cars working with redhat 9? Does anyone know of a driver for this card? If so could some kind soul tell me how to install it on RH9?

Thanks

I did a thread about a very similar card here:
http://www.linuxhelp.ca/forums/index.php?a...=3&t=2190&st=15

Basically, install the kernel-source rpm that matches your current kernel, download and untar the drivers, go into the directory that was created when you untarred the drivers, and then issue this command:

make

then

make install

then

modprobe au8820

Also ... just for info, the Aureal drivers have been migrated into ALSA ... which is the standard sound system with the 2.6 kernel. So, that card should work on the basic install of FedoraCore 2 or Mandrake 10 with the 2.6 kernel.
