just finished my pc. but can't install mandrake 8.1. after booting from the CD, after selecting the type of install (text,GUI,ect.)it stops loading and displays "attempt to kill init!" and frezzes. my pc -athlon2000XP,2-80GB maxtor striped in a "HPT 37x RAID 0 Array" from the onboard raid of the mother board (soyo kt 333 dragon ultra) please help

Cannot help but have very similar problem with Suse 8.1 and a ASUS AV7333 motherboard (same chip set as yours)

When I try to install I get a kernal error.

However I can install from the same discs onto an old 100MHz Pentium machine and an 800MHz Celeron.

Can we compare notes?
