Okay i am new to linux, so as a newbie i was trying to install a module and i followed the install notes by typing 'perl Makefile.PL' and that is successful but then when i try to do 'make' it says unknow command and 'make install' obviously doesnt work either. I entered these and the root prompt as well.

Any ideas what is wrong and how i can fix it?

THanks

By the sounds of it, you don't have automake and make installed on your system. Depending on your distribution that you're using, how to instlal these may vary. If you're using one of the main distributions, go into their Add/Remove programs section, and make sure you have development tools installed.

make is not related to perl, so it has nothing to really do with that.

In Yast, under software, search for the Make package and install it...there are also several automake versions ... and they are usually not required, but can be installed.
