I havnt used knoppix to much but it could have came in handy the other day. I was fixing a crashed Windows machine and I needed to back up the files off the drive. The easiest way that came to me, load knoppix and my USB disc drive. Well once I get in everything is mounted as read only. I just kept getting errors when I tried to copy and pase to the USB drive. Mandrake also mounts my WIndows partitions on my home PC as read only. Is there anyway around this? Can linux write to my linux drive as NTFS so windows can read it? Thanks

writing to NTFS is very experimental ... and should not be used. (Which is why you can't do it very easily smile.gif ).
