ANyone install this? it comes as a bin but it asks for the VM machine which I already have installed. I get this error

Preparing to install...
Extracting the installation resources from the installer archive...
Configuring the installer for this system's environment...
No Java virtual machine could be found from your PATH
environment variable. You must install a VM prior to
running this program.

anyone know how to set this path? thanks

If you have a Java Virtual Machine installed ... (the name of the file is java), you must create a link that points to it from an executable location in your path (i.e., from /bin, /usr/bin, etc.).

Type the command:

which java

If the result is:
/usr/bin/which: no java in (/usr/kerberos/sbin:/usr/kerberos/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/root/bin)

then java is not in your path...

My JRE is installed at:

/usr/lib/java/jre

so I created a link to the java file at:

/usr/lib/java/jre/bin/java

Like this:

ln -s /usr/lib/java/jre/bin/java /usr/bin/java

now from the command prompt, if you type:

which java

it should say:

/usr/bin/java

and the command

java -version

should tell you the KRE version you are using ... I am using:

Java™ 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_04-b05)
Java HotSpot™ Client VM (build 1.4.2_04-b05, mixed mode)
