One of the great things about open source is there is tons of good software out there for free, but that also makes it hard to sort through. I wanted to start a thread where people could recomend good linux software that doesn't usually come standard with distros.

I haven't really gotten outside the "stock" software, xmms, gaim, gkrellm, OpenOffice, Firefox, thunderbird, the gimp, those storts of basic stuff, but I know there is more out there. What sort of programs do you guys use and and what for?

Good on ya. I left the door open. What would a fishing trip be without a bite or two?
I'm running FC1 with all the updates including Firefox.
I like it (Firefox), it is different and getting better.
I've been using Opera for about 5 years now and still like it.
Opera was great back then when the only other real choice was Netscape or those other command-line thingy's.

Have fun.

PS: Wot's this do'n it wif a penquin thingy?
I still find a good woman is all I need. LOL.

PPS: Have you had a look at Dillo?
