In my experiences, the best learning tools are books. See the following thread that received a lot of replies:

Books for Newbies

Other then that, you can read through our website including the option at the top of this page called "Newbies". There are also numerous guides and FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) that you might want to check out. Another good idea is to find someone in your community (perhaps a Linux User Group ) that will help install Linux and give you some basic skills on using it.
