Dear Reader,

The main point I am new in Linux.
I like to install a SAGEM F@st-800 ADSL modem on the Linux SUSE 9.1

I need to ununderstand what mean the next sentences;
Where and how can check it?
Where can I write the order? ( rpm -q package_under_test)

"Please check that your Linux installation includes the " Development " module. Please check that
the following packages are properly installed on your PC. They are necessary for driver
compilation: .
kernel-source .
Beside, in order to to ease installation, you may want to install the following packages: .
traceroute . usbview In order to check that one package is installed, you can use the "rpm"
command as follows : rpm -q package_under_test "

Thanks oon advance for your answer.

To type the above command ... you would open a terminal window from the menu ... and if you are not logged on as the user named root, you would first type:

su - root (and press Enter)

then type in the root user's password.

The issue the command:

rpm -q name_of_package

Open Yast and software installer ... then make sure kernel-source and gcc and gcc-cpp are installed.
