Whats this Lie-nix Thing?

i have just downloaded linux mandrake v10. and when i try to install the games off the cd its says something like.

"No Write Premission on install directory"

im a complete newbie with linux so what do i need to do

anyone a guru with linux????

In order to install programs you will need to be have root privilages. There are a couple ways you can do this. You can open up a root terminal in Konsole, or you can type the command su to gain root privilages. That should alow you to read and write to anywhere on your drive.

it could also be that your hard drive partition is full ...

what is the output of the command:

df -h

from the command line.
