Thanks for looking. I was hoping to get pointed in right direction. I downloaded live eval cd of suse. I liked it. Wanted to try out full system.
After booting from install cd. Installed tulip module for linksys (LNE100tx V4)lan card. @ install I get invalid ip address. ?? I double checked address
(ftp:suse.com/pub/suse/i386/current/)

I use a US. Robotics USR8054 router (direct wire connection) & westell dsl. This connection worked with no setup via live eval cd. I simply opened browser = web.

I run Win2000 PRO on my desktop. I would like to get my feet wet to transition to linux.

Any links/ideas would be appreciated. I have Searched via google to no avail.

blink.gif Thanks

I haven't done a SUSE ftp install in a long time ...

But I don't recommend it. It takes forever, and there are always timeouts halfway through ... etc. (Even if you get connected to a good mirror).

Personally, I would select another distro that is downloadable on ISOs, where you can boot and install from CD ... or buy the personal edition of SUSE for $30.00.

You might try either Mandrake 10 or Fedora Core 2 ...
