I am a newb to linux so i dont know much at all. I heard that there was a way you could run windows programs on linux the program i have in mind is ventrilo www.ventrilo.com/download.php there is no linux version yet. Does anyone have any knowledge on how to do this?

Hi,

wine can run windows applications, but don't expect any mirracles here, it can run them (most of them), but they will in most cases not run so well under linux as they would under windows.

but if you could tell me what distro are you using there might be a easier way to install wine...

Hi,

wine is for applications

winex is for games

but since you wan't a application to run under linux (not a game right?)

then wine is for you

just open up a terminal window

and type

CODE
apt-get update
apt-get install wine


if you wan't to update the entire system
CODE
apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade
