I installed Linux on my laptop today, and I know absolutely nothing about it. Everything seems to work, except my network PC card. When Mandrake is loading, I get a "failed" message next to what appears to be my PC card. My card is a 3Com Megahertz LAN PC Card 389E (Model 3CCE589ET). In Harddrake, PCI1225 PC Card Controller is listed. I've seen some mention of creating a kernel on various websites, and if that is what I have to do to fix the problem, I need help with that too (I have no idea what a kernel is). Thanks in advance.

What version of Mandrake did you install? (8, 9.0, 9.1, 9.2, 10, etc.)

What is the make and model of your laptop?

How much RAM and what is the processor speed?
