My Mandrake 10.0 installation on my laptop (which is installed beside windowsXP) hangs up when it reboots after installation.... looking for new hardware....I am a newbie

Any suggestions?

My first suggestion would be the old troubleshooting method. Remove any USB devices, reboot and check, remove any additional non-critical hardware and reboot and check. By using process of elimination, you may find which piece of hardware is causing the problem.

Or, it may very well be that none of your hardware is causing problems. You may want to try turning acpi off by passing it to the kernel linux

boot: linux acpi=off


Give those things a try.
