Hi I'm having trouble mounting a win xp partition on the same drive as my linux installation could someone please help

What distro are you using, what type of file system is your Windows Partition using NTFS or FAT32?

in a console window [terminal window], type fdisk -l (I think, sorry using WinXP computer now), and then it should mount with :

mount /dev/hda5 /WINDOWS/D (for example)

[/WINDOWS/D must be a valid path on your linux partition]
