System: Debian Woody

I'm trying to set up an iptables startup script. Part of the script calls "modprobe ip_tables".

I was manually tinkering around (ie. I hadn't run the script yet), and I wanted to see what would happen if I just entered that command. I did, and I got this error:

CODE
modprobe: Can't open dependencies file /lib/modules/2.4.23-secure-2um/modules.dep (No such file or directory)

I checked out the directory, and sure enough the entire /lib/modules/ directory is completely empty. I searched the system for modules.dep and it didn't find it anywhere.

Any idea what I can do to fix this?

What version of GNU/Linux you are using...
I think it may be a problem.because..you don't have kernel sources installed.
