Whats this Lie-nix Thing?

im trying to install debian on a P2 266 with a 3Com 3c905 TX NIC. I dont know linux at all and im stuck trying to understand whats going on... any help would really be appreciated. From select net modules ...

I choose 3c59x module and put in the cmd line it says to use but the error message i get is:

Is this from the woody installation disc? If so ... I would install the 2.4 kernel and not the 2.2 kernel.

At the original prompt (where you probably pressed enter), try bf24 instead.

This will load the 2.4 kernel which has better driver support.
