Whats this Lie-nix Thing?

I have tried this from within Gnome and from simple command line. Up2date vrifies that all packages are downloaded and then simply hangs. I let it sit for hours.

I searched forums and have not found a thread that helps me with this. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

You didn't mention your distro ... but if it is RedHat 6.2 - 9 or FedoraCore1, I recommend you install APT from FreshRPMS.
