I've got rar, and unace installed in /bin, but where do I go from there?

If it's something you need to install, open up terminal, and "cd /bin"

then "ls" to find the folder (or see if the files are there).

"cd foldername" (if it made a folder)

then "less README" or "less INSTALL" to read the manual,
but most likely all you'll need to do is:
./configure &&
make &&
make install

(&& lets you put another command on the next line, now you can go and get yourself some soda) happy.gif

When it's done (and there are hopefully no errors),
just type in the filename of the command
(for example, if you installed xmms-blah.1.2.4)
"xmms"
