I've swapped in and out four NICs with the same result- the attempt to bring up ethernet always fails- the card seems to be sending out (always 3 packets out to PING and none return) but getting no response.

There's no problem with my other installs- just no interface on this one. I evn copied the disk image from another machine that works with the same card to make sure that the driver was right, but to no avail.

Input? Anyone?

Could be a chipset driver issue ... is it an NForce chipset on the motherboard?

It's a Gigabyte board, so I'm fairly confident that yes, it's got an nforce set- I'm at my work box now and won't be able to check until later, but Gigabyte seems to be nforce....god willing I'm not screwed....
