I've heard somewhere that this soundcard DOESN'T Work with Mandrake 8.2 [ which is what I'm using ], Rather, I'm not even sure if it works with linux at all . . .

Does anyone know how to get it working ? I'd be extremely grateful, I've tried a few things, but nothing seems to work - any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The Soundcards full name is the - Avance Logic inc - ALS4000 Audio Chipset
I'm using Mandrake 8.2, with KDE3.0.2

Or better yet, install Alsa using these step-by-step instructions.
