Mandrakesoft is proud to announce that its new flagship operating system 'Mandrakelinux 10.0 Community' has been released. 10.0 Community is the first major Linux distribution to take advantage of the new Linux kernel 2.6 while providing one of the most easy to use and attractive Linux operating systems ever.

This product is currently only available to MandrakeClub members or for purchase from the MandrakeStore. When it is available for all users, I will post it here.

After disabling ACPI, the installation proceeded without a hitch and in about 20 minutes I had Mandrake 10 up and running. The DVD Burner drive was instantly recognized and configured and fully functional. Totem played a DVD movie with all the menus and extras (MPlayer in Fedora skipped the main menu and played the chapters in some weird order; in the beginning I thought the DVD was organized like that but Totem actually played the same DVD the way it was supposed to be played).

But..... my modem does not work and none of the fixes I did for Fedora seem to solve the problem.

So I can have either Fedora with Internet but half-baked DVD Burner support or Mandrake with fully functional DVD Burner but no Internet :-(. I guess I will go back to XP/Fedora, booting into Windows when doing some CD/DVD Burning and using Fedora for Internet (no one in their right mind would connect to Internet under Windows).

Still waiting for my ideal distribution...
