What is the equivalent BASH command for ipconfig? I basically just want a quick way to see the ip address from the shell.

In addition, is there a BASH command to check the version of your kernel?

The ipconfigu equialent for Linux is ifconfig

And you can check you're kernel version by typing uname -r in console
