OK, I've a dumb question, Im having a difficult time getting jEdit installed on RedHat 8. I've installed Java SDK, but it acts as if the java app installed when I run the java -jar jedit41install.jar it says bash: java: command not found... so I'm under the impression that I did not instal java correctly. Any suggestions?

Well the problem is simply that....JDK binaries are not in your path...
Either go to the directory contaning JDK binaries and execute the commands from there..using....
$./java
or set the path by putting that path in your .bashrc file....
###.bashrc
PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin:/usr/local/java/jdk<xxx>/bin
export $PATH

####end of snippet...
