I need to put a line into a file on my Linux machine that refers to a directory on another Win2KServer in my network. Suppose the path I want to refer to would be listed in the Windows world as:

"\\dc1\interck\unixinst\linux\intel_libc6\"

What is the proper syntax for listing this directory location from within my Linux server's file?

Thanks for answering this incredibly newbie-ish question.

You need to mount the windows share to your linux computer via samba ... then you can read (and write) to the file or directory using a linux path:

/mnt/share_name/filename

See this thread for mounting samba shares

(you have to first create the share in windows ... just like you would to access it from another windows PC)

You will have whatever permissions (read, write, delete, etc.) on the windows drive that the windows USER (whose username/password you specify in the mount command) has for that share based on their windows groups.

Thanks. I'll go that route.
