Hi, I recently installed Mandrake 9.2 on my PC.

The system Specs are Below:
633 mhz Intel Celeron
256 mb RAM
10 gb HD (I have another, that Windows runs on, and it is 80)
Radeon 7500 64mb Video Card (PCI)
Royal Information Electronics TRL/RIC DH-1764M/DH-1764 (Monitor)

The problem is when I get ready to, I'm guessing login, the monitor turns off. I have searched and found some different things like changing your graphics settings. I tried using a few commands, but when I login on the root account, and get into the command line and try to enter the commands Linux says that their all unknown. unsure.gif

Then again I thought that maybe it was Mandrake, so I installed Red Hat 9.0.
It does the same thing, so I'm thinking that its a driver or display hardware problem.

But the ironic thing is that when I was learning Linux, I used Knoppix and ran it right off the CD. It worked fine, and I could login and do anything it allowed within its own restrictions, since it was on a CD.

Could anyone help me or provide any type of support for this. The commands were some like XFdrake, from what I remember. If anyone could leave a detailed guide for a newbie like me, that would be greatly appericiated. Or do you guys know any permanent Linux distrobutions that are good with hardware and will work. Seeing a Knoppix did. biggrin.gif

That is the actual Mandrake code. But I can't edit it because I'm not root. And I will probably be laughed off the face of the earth, but how do I login with root, since Knoppix only has one account. And Mandrake needs me to login as root to change.?? sad.gif
