OMG let me just say this has been the hardest O/S to install. I haven't had anything but trouble. This will be my 8th attempt to install SuSE smile.gif oh yea I am a n00b linux as well smile.gif . During install I have the screen that shows overall progress and also shows that I need some files off CD2. After CD1 installs, it reboots and I only get the Prompt screen. When I go back to installation and select UPDATE once again it finalizes and reboots and I get the Prompt Screen again.

You need to boot from the hard drive, not select installation again.

Either remove the CD before it boots, or select Boot from harddrive from the menu .... after YAST starts again, it will ask for CD 2.

If you are doing that, and still stuck at the prompt, probably a graphics card issue. Try running sax2 from the command prompt to set up your graphics card.

BTW,
I hate SUSE ... I would not recommend it. (that is a personal opinion)
