I'm running Suse 9.0. I've downloaded kernel 2.6.0 and when I try to "make config" I get the message " command not found". HUH? The "make" command just isn't available.

Any thoughts?

Yeah, it's most likely that you didn't install Development packages in SuSE. You should open up Yast2 and go to the Add/Remove software, do a search on 'automake', 'autoconf','m4','gcc', etc. Or you can just go to package groups and look through the development sections. i would be more descriptive, but i don't have a SuSE system here.
