Whats this Lie-nix Thing?

Im a linux n00b and im trying to rune a bf1942:dc server. I can ping www.yahoo.com but i cant ping 127.0.0.1 or localhost or my privite ip ( 192.168.1.103 ). I can ping my router, yahoo.com, and any live box. im even posting this message on the linux server. I turned off the firewall and heres my hosts file and some more info.

DIS: Mandrake Linux 9.1

basicly i can only send packets outgoing and its blocking all incomming packets but why not port 80?

Can you post the output of "/sbin/ifconfig" ? It's possible your 'lo' interface is not being initialize, this will cause a lot of weird things to happen.
