I finnally spit on my windows box and went to linux. I have had it for a while, but havn't gotten far with it. I was wondering How i can install the nvidia LINUX driver out of xserver. thanks, and please tell me if i am not clear so I can write clearer

Nvidia, the excellent and outstanding people they are, actually releases linux drivers. You build them as a module for your kernel. Don't know much beyond that, but you might look around the nvidia site, they'll probably have a HOWTO for the linux driver installation.


BTW, Pardon me if this is a stupid comment, but just so you know, not many games are supported under linux, unless you have one heck of a Wine environment set up.

You need to boot to runlevel 3 (console mode) (see this TIP ... except you will change:




(when all is done and the drivers are installed, use the above TIP to change back to runlevel 5 (GUI mode).

After you boot to console mode, follow the instructions HERE ... README
