OK, I need help. I am a Linux newbie, attempting to migrate from W2K, and have installed Mandrake 9.1. My 2 major problems are a) getting internet access through my laptop's Winmodem, and cool.gif using my Hotmail account.
I have read the Linmodem site ,found an appropriate driver for my kernel (2.4.21-0.13mdk), downloaded and installed it. I still cannot get a connection.
Secondly, it looks like the HTTPMail protocol that Hotmail uses is not supported under Linux. I have seen a couple of applications that claim to be able to view a Hotmail account, but I would like full functionality. If I can get Mandrake working effectively, I would probably change my mail account to a POP3 (and hopefully escape the spammers!).

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks to all of you in advance.

Mark
