I've just installed Mandrake Linux, and XFree won't load.

It just goes to a black screen.

I've got a radeon VE dual head video card: The last thing on the error log is this:

using vt7
giving up.

xinit: connection refused (errno 111): unable to connect to xserver
xinit: no such process (errno 3): server error.

I've tried reloading XFdrake, but everytime I test a configuration, I get the same black screen.

Any ideas?

According to ATI, the radeon VE is supported by XFree 4.3.0 in Mardrake 9.2.

What version of Xfree86 and Mandrake are you using?

Does the PC hang when you do test, or can use use Crtl-Alt-Backspace to get back to XFdrake?
