Can anybody please help me? I have installed SuSE Linux 7.3 Prof. on my laptop. No problems. It also recognizes my audiocard (ESS ES1978S). If i (either after the installation process, or just from YAST2) go to hardware configuration and test the card it does make sound. I dont even have to search for the right card, SuSE sees it and knows what card it is. When, after the test, i save the confuguration the whole system halts. When i reboot, it starts till the login screen (graphical) when i type the pasword and username and hit login, it halts as soon as the windowmanagers start to load.
Does anybody know how to resolve this. It's not a big problem, but i want to completely switch from windows xp to linux, and i do need sound than, for mp3 and dvd etc.
Please mail me if you know how to help me, at:

many thanks in advance
