I went to Preferences and clicked on Screensaver and picked the one that I wanted on Red Hat 9.0. After not touching the computer for 10 minutes or more, nothing happened!

Can anyone help me with this?

Also, what program can one use to watch MPGs, AVIs, and listen to MP3s on Red Hat 9.0?

Hi,

You can use Mplayer http://www.mplayerhq.hu/homepage/design6/news.html or xine http://xinehq.de/ for watching video files. For mp3s try xmms - http://staff.xmms.org/priv/redhat8/ (You have to download special RPM's because redhat ships rhlinux without mp3 support due to legal issues)

I wasn't able to reproduce your screensaver problem. I'm running rh9 and set it to 1 minute and it came on fine. Are you sure you are saving the changes etc?
