hi everybuddy can anyone tell me how to modify the scanner.o file it says object code and i am not sure how to open it

scanner.o is a module (as far as i can tell). This should be installed in your module tree (beneath /lib/`uname -r`/ ).

Where did you optain this module from? Was it part of the kernel? Part of a source package you downloaded? If the latter, then it should have came with a script that will install it into the appropriate place (make install perhaps?).

You normally have to insert modules into your running kernel with the command "modprobe -v scanner", but please make sure the module is in the correct location for your modules first.
