I found Corey's TV Tuner guide at:

very helpful.

I was wondering, considering Corey used the Winfast TV 2000 XP card, if it was possible to take advantage of this cards hardware MPEG-2 encoding in Linux.

Yeah, this card does not support Mpeg-2 decoding. The windows software that comes with this is nice because it can take advantage of all video and audio codecs that you have installed on your system (such as divx5, etc.).

Freevo and Mythtv are nice programs for recording and replaying content, TVtime does not yet support this, but, the developers are more then willing to have it included. If you have some programming ability and intrest, drop by their channel #livid on Freenode (IRC) and see if you can help out.
