Hi boyz,i'm an italian penguin and I have a big big problem with XFree86:

At boot time X server crashes and my monitor goes black...the only thing I can do it's to push the reboot switch.
If I try to do CRTL-ALT-CANC...nothing seems to happend but if i do CTRL-ALT-BACKSLASH (in order to shout down X server)my PC turns off!!!

This is my configuration:

Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-8SG667 (SiS 648 chipset)
CPU - Intel PIV 2.4 Ghz
RAM - 512 MB PC3200 Corsair Extreme (with CAS 2)
Hard Disk - Maxtor DX
Graphic Card - XFX Nvidia GeForce 4 Ti 4200
Sound Card - Creative Sound Blaster Live!1024

Linux Distribution - Mandrake Linux 9.0
Nvidia drivers 1.0.3123

I also tried to change my SVGA card with a TNT2 but...nothing!!!

I thing the deal is the AGP controller...but i'm not sure!!!

Please help me!!!

What is a ctrl+alt+canc? you have a canc key? Try using ctrl+alt+backspace. Also try changing to a virtual terminal - ctrl+alt+F1/F2/F3 etc...

You'll have to setup X to stop this, XF86Setup, xf86cfg, or X -configure will do this, but you'll have to get to the command line first wink.gif
