Hey

I'm new to linux, i have redhat 9 and i'm managing it under scureCRT, how can i check for ports that are in use?

you can use netstat:

at the command line type:

netstat

netstat -a

If you also want to see listening ports....

netstat -an

if you want to see ip addresses and not computer dns names...
