Whats this Lie-nix Thing?

I am new to linux so I have no idea how to config the sound in mandrake 9.1 and I have no idea if it is detected or what so please help.

log in as root and start the Mandrake Control Center.

select the hardware icon (left side of Control Center), then select the [b]Hard Drake icon (right side of Control Center).

After detection, you will see a soundcard (if one is detected).

If one isn't detected, then we need more info to help...

(like what is the soundcard make and model .... what X server are you using (gnome or KDE or other) ... etc.)
