so i have a dual-boot WIN 2k/Redhat 8 laptop with a USB ethernet card through a USB hub

and i used linux at home where we have DHCP and linux worked great and got online, so when i got to school i wanted to set up my computer to use the static IP ethernet, so i used the GUI interface for setting up the ethernet connection, i deleted the DHCP connection, put in all the right numbers for IP, subnet, etc. but it does not work and i keep getting the error that says that Pegasus/Pegasus is an alias in modules.conf, instead of Pegasus/Pegasus Ethernet Adapter yada yada... but in modules.conf it does say the extended version.
The ethernet works on my windows partition, as i am typing this now.

So my question is that does anyone know how to fix this, and what is the text-based way to set up the static IP
