I'm have been successfully running Linux Mint on this computer for several years now -- currently I've been using Linux Mint 18.3.

This problem began when my system suddently was not detecting my ssd hard drive. In the BIOS settings it said I had no hard drive and the computer would not boot.

I opened the computer and unplugged and then reseated the hard drive and connections and now my hard drive does (usually, but not always) appear as the hard drive in BIOS setings.

I can start the system with a Live Linux Mint USB. I've tried fdisk -l and testdrive, and the hard drive doesn't appear at all.
