In my log I have this message for mailman error log :

Cannot connect to SMTP server localhost on port smtp

I check everything and I dont see anything wrong.
If I start mailman with /var/mailman/bin/mailmanctl start
my mail server freeze. Il I stop mailman the mail server respond normaly.

My mail server is Sendmail in RedHat 9, is working perfectly.

Anybody help me with this problem?

Can you telnet to port 25 on the mail server?

Do you have the following in your /etc/hosts.allow

sendmail: ALL

I think redhat might still be shipping sendmail with localhost access only.

Open up your /etc/mail/sendmail.mc file and look for this line:

DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Port=smtp,Addr=127.0.0.1, Name=MTA')

Change this to

dnl DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Port=smtp,Addr=127.0.0.1, Name=MTA')

Then save the file and run:

m4 /etc/mail/sendmail.mc > /etc/sendmail.cf
