I am a bit of newbie and can't seem to find this on any of the manuals that I have found online. Would anybody be able to tell me howto install .bin and .sh(shell) files using Mandrake Linux 9.1? Do I need to compile them or something and if I do need to compile them could someone please explain how? Thanks Derek...

I'm not sure if Mandrake has a console on the desktop or not, but if you're using KDE, you want to be looking for a program called Konsole. It's most likely in your start menu. Once you find it and have started it, go to the directory where file is by using the 'cd' command. So, if you don't know how to do that, here's all that you're going to need to do.

cd /dir/where/bin/file/is ***the directory where the file is that you're trying to execute.
chmod 755 file.bin ***give the file execute permissions
./file.bin ***execute the file.

Hope this helps,

Eric
