Whats this Lie-nix Thing?

I just recently did a fresh first time install of linux 7.3 but for some reason i cannot log in using my username and password. i'm 99% sure i'm using the right one. Is there anyway i can change this???. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

reboot the computer and at the lilo prompt type linux single
this will allow you to boot into single user mode and reset the password.

If you remember the root password you can just log in as root and reset the password for the regular user by typing passwd username
